not bad
Stand alone scanners kind of needless these day, eh? All in one printers and digital cameras make these excess baggage.
I do think stand along scanner does get better quality than the AIO one-if you need to scan a photo. I am always looking for CanoScan 8XXX serious deal but Canon barely have them on sale.
I also own some Lide series scanner- however the quality for photo is not great but good for document and receipt scanning. Hope this unit can perform better and closer to the CanoScan series..
These weigh very little and use no power brick, USB only. Even a netbook can run one.
I have an older LiDE canon and I like the fact that it is powered just from USB. Makes it easier to store.
how is the quality of the scanned item? my inexpensive all in one isn't that great.
Why is it that the most ignorant people always try to suggest their lack of knowledge makes products unnecessary?
The scanners in AIO are crap till you spend far more than most are willing to ($1000 isn't enough) and digital cameras have no overlap with scanners, they're simply terrible at what a scanner is meant to do quickly and easily.
Avoid all in one when you can, it's always limiting. Avoid those that are USB powered too, they have poor contrast and depth of focus. That is, unless all you care about is it being portably powered and having quickest time to first scan after being off or asleep, rather than quality scans.
This Canon on the other hand, isn't much if any better than what you find in a cheap AIO printer, but you probably suspected as much with it costing only $30.
