I could never get the wireless part of this printer to work...the wireless trouble shooting guide is a joke... I did not have a clue as to what tech language it was written in... ended up returning it
same as #1, wireless part its a paint. also this printer its on amazon prime for the same price, this will save you the tax.
I just picked one of these too last Wednesday and my first two tries to connect wirelessly failed. After I try again, I will post an update if I learn anything worthwhile to share.
You'll only save tax until you end up paying the same amount in "use tax" anyway... unless you're a lying, cheating thief.
not sure what #1, 2, 3 are referring to. I ran the setup disc and connected to my network with no problem. If you know your SSID and WEP/WPA key, I don't know what part of the setup would even cause problems. Follow the steps in the setup guide, and skip to the appropriate page when it tells you.
#1, #2, & #3, The wireless on this printer works, and yes the setup is a little unintuitive, but it's designed to work best with a WPS enabled router, much the same way that the Wii or Nintendo DS connects. With a WPS enabled router, you press the WPS button on the router and then instruct the printer to search out access points ready to connect.
If you don't have a router with WPS, you can connect the printer directly to a computer with USB and configure the wireless through Canons software. The software is fairly intuitive and easy to set up, but you're correct in saying that the documentation could be easier to understand.
Still, once configured, the printer does a good job staying connected and not dropping any connections. And it supports all modern and legacy wireless protection schemes. Pairing this with my access point with WPA2 (with no WPS functionality) was fairly painless and quick. And I haven't had to alter any settings since setting it up the initial time.
yeah - how do the prints look?
You can get an extra $5 off this w/ in-store pickup using Microsoft's live.com/cashback search.
Those are some pretty pompous comments about the wireless network connectivity. Not everyone has a network running at home that mimics yours, therefore the ease of connectivity will not be the same. Even a CCIE can encounter problems. Sure, the user may have done something out of sequence, but the Canon software can still have shortfalls, and it does.
