Have one of these, and I like it much better than my old Photosmart.

Don't use it - I have it on CAT-5 to the router. That was simple enough to set up though.

Awesome printer - even refurb for $75. The instructions for setting up the printer and wireless connection are very correct and easy to follow. The only thing this printer does not do is duplex. Some websites may claim it does but it does not.

#4, I have the Pixma MX850 and love it. Wouldn't use cheap ink, though. I've heard that cheap ink causes problems clogging the jets and I don't think it's worth screwing up the printer. The 850 does duplex, BTW.

Be sure to get the firmware update from the Canon website which supposedly addresses the issue of excessive ink use.

I own one of these and I must say that the photo print quality is exceptional. The wireless setup is pretty easy, it requires you to connect it using USB to your computer to set up the wireless. Haven't had a problem yet. This is a great price.

"I've heard that cheap ink causes problems clogging the jets and I don't think it's worth screwing up the printer."

Since this printer costs not much more than the ink it uses that's probably not a good policy. I think the manufacturers are the ones who spread rumors about generic inks. They make all their money on the ink so it's important for them to disseminate that sort of propaganda.

Actually, the information about generic inks clogging the jets came from a chemist who develops inks for these printers and said that the formulas of the Canon inks and the generic ones differ significantly.

This forum has some discussion on the topic:
