Amazon also has this directly from them for $289 w/ FREE shipping.
Which is exactly why Ben posted this deal and not the one from Amazon. Thanks, #1, you were a great help.
Well, some people, like myself, might want to pay a couple extra bucks and get it from a more well-known site, or a site they already have an account at. No biggie.
But if you want to get technical, Adorama Camera has it through Amazon for $282 w/ FREE shipping.

It doesn't say free shipping though until you go to checkout.
Not sure that Adorama is more trustworthy than eTronics but at least Amazon is involved.
Its actually $288.94 directly from Amazon (not Adorama) and yes, I would pay that extra $6.94 in a heartbeat to deal with Amazon.
Great camera for the money btw. Got my dad one for Christmas.
I figured $289 was close enough.
This camera was one of my top choices. If this one didn't use AA batteries, I'd get it. I'm looking at the SD700 IS intead. Just waiting for the right price.
No kidding? I think AAs are one of its strong points. $30-$40 for a decent NiMH charger and a set of batteries and you are set for a long time, plus you can always fall back on alkaline in an emergency.
I finally had my mind made up, and you're going to confuse me again. I just read that its seriously slower as far as flash recharge and such.
There was something else I read that I didn't like about this one, but cannot remember what it was now.
Here is the most extensive review I could find on this camera: http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/A710/A710A.HTM
Try this one: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canona710is/
Well jay_cee, you caused me to re-evaluate my decision and do some further research and review reading. This review really swayed me: http://www.steves-digicams.com/2006_reviews/a710.html
I also read the one there for the SD700 IS, and I decided AA is better, if you get the right batteries. So, I just ordered the camera from Amazon for $289.
The slow flash recharge is the one thing about the camera that I don't like that much, but it wasn't a show-stopper for me. Overall I think its a great camera and I don't think you'll be disappointed...and if you are, return it. Its amazon!
I got this camera from Etronics, great site... and as far as the rechargable batt pack... i know when i called in to place my order the salesman gave me a great deal!! I would buy from them again
if you have slow flash recharge times with AA batteries, try buying the highest mHa you can find. It will make a difference. Although you were right, proprietary battery packs are just now becoming the way to go.
