It was a tough decision. If I saw the $325 price then, it would have been really tough. I got the P310 for $279 from Amazon. Few things that turned me off of the Canon... 1. Reports of lens error problems. 2. Pop up flash is auto, P310 is manual. I hate having to go the the menus to make sure the flash is off. 3. Only 24fps on 1080p videos and no mpeg4 compression. 4. Higher Price. 5. Slightly smaller aperature, f2.0 vs f8 Biggest advantage of the S100... 1. Smaller. 2. slightly bigger sensor. 3. slightly bigger zoom.
Almost got this 2 weeks ago, but went with the nikon P310. I think I made the right decision. I've been very happy, especially the low light pictures.
wow I paid $40 more about a week ago. premium compact. it got pretty much everything you need great lens. the camera is in recall due to faulty lens check this out http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/professional/products/professional_cameras/pro_ps_digital_cameras/powershot_s100?pageKeyCode=prdAdvDetail&docId=0901e024805ab992&fb_source=message&WT.mc_id=C126149
Ischang, the nikon P310 has a smaller sensor and no raw. Definitely an inferior camera to this Canon S100.
