Probably the nicest compact P&S camera.

yes it's nice, but the zoom digital zoom sucks balls. My old Canon SD450 digital zoom was 100x better than this one.

I've read a lot about this camera and want one, but I keep thinking Canon is due to replace it with an updated model that would hopefully do HD video. Newegg had it for the same price a while back, but I've been holding out for that new model. What do you think? It's been just over a year since they introduced the S90.

#2: Digital zoom sucks balls on every camera.

Just going to mention that myself. Avoid the S90. I think the S95 will fix a few of the annoying features such as the freely spinning wheel on the back!

Will save files in RAW out of the box for those that are interested in that. I would buy the new model FWIW
      .

Spinning wheel is not really a deal (I have the camera and love it), and if you don't need the HD video capability, you can save 100 smackers by getting the S90.... Your call.

I'm sold. HD video, better image stabilization, SDXC support, ,improved control ring, plus a "slimmer body" (by a whole millimeter). Now if I can just stop my eyes from bleeding from reading that white text/black background on dpreview.com.

The Panny DMC-FX700 is even smaller/thinner than the incoming Canon S95.

$300 is not bad however, add 5-6% sale tax to make a stinky deal. Wait for Newegg to lower the ball to $285 or better

And on which planet is the Panasonic's 1/2.33" 15mp sensor better than Canon's 1/1.7" 10MP sensor? If you like noisy pictures and poor low light performance perhaps you are right.

Nusance probably uses this for his pedophilia pictures.

I don't know. The sensor size is one factor, but not everything. Let's wait and see.

i agree with 14. panny has the best deals on p&s cams. this one's overpriced for the features and has some already mentioned flaws, although it does take good pics.
