I ordered this from Amazon yesterday, but since I chose the free shipping option, they were going to wait a week before shipping it, so I canceled and ordered it from here (J&R). Hopefully my instincts to never order anything from NY are wrong this time.
Tip: don't choose the Amazon checkout option on J&R since that results in losing the coupon code discount and free shipping.
But you don't get to shoot in manual, shoot in RAW, shoot with f/2.0 aperture, shoot HDR, record HD video with stereo sound, etc....if you buy a camera that cost 1/4 of the s95. Most importantly, you don't get the same IQ that canon is going to give you with this s95.
I thought the same thing as #2 when my sister bought the S90 about a month ago, but totally changed my opinion after use it for a couple times, it was worth every penny. Now my question is what significant improvement does this S95 have?
I want the best camera that will fit in my pocket. The G11 is not pocketable, and I don't see why it's better than the S95 anyway. Traveling with a camera around your neck sucks.
At first glance, the S95 might seem too expensive, but try finding another pocketable camera with a 1/1.7" image sensor and an F2.0 lens. There are none. These allow you to shoot good shots in low light.
The S95 improves on the S90 by adding stereo 720p video, better image stabilization, improved control ring, no more "free spinning" wheel on the back, textured finish and more shooting modes.

You do realize you can get another name brand camera with the same specs for a 1/4 of this price dont ya?
Almost as bad as paying more for the name "sony"

Even though it's larger, consider buying the G11 for a few $ more.
