that's a heck of a price for this camera- from what i understand, this is canon's top of the line P&S camera from their PowerShot SD line ... i'm inclined to jump on this deal, also to test out this new "Abes of Maine" company ...

Bought this same camera from Abes last week for $169 flat... They were not charging shipping back then... Original stuff and they shipped the very next day... and yes... its a hell of a deal... even with shipping...

Yes Abe's is legit. I got a V1253 Kodak last week for a great deal. Wife already had one and we love it. Now we don't have to fight over it.

Good optical stabilzer, so no blurry pix from handholding inside.

Eyepiece does well in framing shots in bright light.

2.5 inch LCD screen is great.

Great macro mode.

BUT:

Fine details often muddled together. Moderate background noise in indoor and flash photos. Cannon should do better than this in the next model.

The 870is clearly dominates this model for picture quality. But it definitely has the highest quality to form factor ratio.
