      I purchased this camera 1t 240 nine months ago. It was worth that then, at 160 it is a great camera. The image stabilization works very well. That is the reason I got it in the first place.

      Camera takes good pics, but Canon did a terrible job with that spin dial control. It's not precise and takes more time to switch modes.

      $160 is not really a deal. I would consider buying this if it is below $120.

      Right, the spinning dial thingy sucks.

      I was looking at couple of cameras and this 790IS was one of the top choices, but that dial totally threw me off.

      the pictures are just great and the camera is very quick to start up, focus and save the picture. i got it when Dell had it on sale for $130 for a half an hour last week. The dial does in fact suck, but that is the only bad thing on an otherwise great camera.
