You can't go wrong with the CCD sensor and 8MP produces a clear image large enough for most people's needs.

This cam has a wider angle than most P&S. It gets great reviews. The newer 880IS is also good.

good camera. Have one myself. only thing about canon is that their flash is so bright! Could be a good thing or bad. I need to learn how to use the light setting more.

pictures can be soft & noisy. limited manual controls means that you may not be able to properly adjust your shot for a given setting. example: very sunny day, you want to set exposure based on person's face. you have spot meter (or most precise exposure). it doesn't do what it's supposed to do. plain and simple. it meters a more general area even in that setting.

i'm not trying to be a grouch: i'm just saying that you have to sacrifice image & control (to sometimes an annoying extent) for pocketability (which is very important). you can't have it both ways. small cameras with small lenses = coke bottle lenses IMO. i have grudgingly accepted this compromise as a fair reality (for now). just be willing to make that compromise. if you're not - then don't spend 220. spend 100 dollars instead for a much better bang for your buck. 100 or 220, pocket cameras will all have this "general" compromise that i mentioned. an expensive $300 pocket camera will not magically have a small lense that is something other than what it is: mediocre.

All recent Canon P&S cameras get the job done... all differ mainly in pixel resolution, wide-angle, and LCD screen size... find one that fits your budget and you can't go wrong with any of them!

Had this camera since a little after it came out, very nice camera. Pictures are very nice. (google "SD870 settings" to find optimal settings for this camera)

SD890IS has better technical specs -- higher MP & zoom -- but is bulkier, plus the SD870IS has a wider angle (28mm) lens. I guess it depends on what you plan on using it for. At this price though, I'd rather get the SD880IS listed further down.

Canon is the best of all point and shoot. Can't go wrong with any of them. However, as with all electronics, keep the paperwork in case of warranty work.

Canon powershots are one of the best point-shot cameras out there. I like this becuase of it's bigger LCD screen.
