Smallest camera with wide angle (28mm equiv) I love the time lapsed too. 2 hours on a single battery charge.

This is the best compact point and shoot out there right now, for the money. While I'm putzing around switching lenses on my Nikon dSLR, my gf is taking

shots. This unit is significantly better than most of the other compact Canon P + S models seem to be. It is just slightly bulkier, but it is well worth the higher image quality. It really is almost impossible to get a crappy picture out of this thing. Lord knows, she's tried!

I agree with #1, great wide angle lens. I would actually recommend the Canon SD1100 as the best value in Canon point 'n shoots at this time. The screen is 0.5" smaller, but other than that, the specs are almost the same, and the Canon SD1100 is $175-ish at Amazon. The SD1100 has time-lapse also, and is lighter and smaller too. Perhaps for some, the extra 10mm and 0.5" in the screen is worth the extra $65?

Here's a side by side comparison from dpreview: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare_post.asp?method=sidebyside&cameras=canon_sd870is%2Ccanon_sd1100is&show=all

Oh, and personally, I like that the SD1100 has an optical viewfinder also - so you can turn off the screen and squeeze a few more shots out of the battery when your battery is about to die Smile

This is a great camera. Decent enough to use as a lower res camcorder too.
