Blah... too bad they don't have the 880IS. I would've gotten that cause of the wide-angle.

Canon cameras a really behind other cameras when it comes to features. There really is no excuse why they are stilling using 2.5" screens, when they should be using 3.0 or 5 And they still have yet to had HD video to their cameras, unlike other brands (yes HD video kills any 640 video in the Canon cameras).

Is HD video that big of a deal on a compact point and shoot? These cameras are primarily for still images anyway.

@1: I've owned several in this series, and the 880IS image quality has been surprising disappointing. The 880IS is incredibly responsive, and has a great wide-angle, but the pictures simply aren't up to normal Canon quality.

      Previously I had the SD700IS, SD600, SD200. Now I have the SD880IS and the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5A.
I am pretty happy with the SD880 IS, and I think the negative comments come mostly from people who have the SD990 that try to justify the 15Megapixels and extra money.

You can find many professionals reviews where the SD880 was better ranked than the SD990 and you also can fnd many that say the opposite.
I have to agree that Canon should have HD video, like many others already have... like Panasonic.

If you want HD video, buy a HD camcorder. The HD Video (720p) I've seen from point & shoot cameras has been pretty poor. Even worse in some ways than the clean 480p video I get on my newest Canon camera (SX10)
