#1. Its just something to get you started. 32 megs is plenty to fool around with. If you are serious thinking about utilizing the camera's full potential its not even a question as to if you will upgrade the memory card.

As for the product itself. canon historically is very consumer friendly and provides quality up there with the best (speaking of point and shoot camera's only). the only beef I have with this is the 2.5" screen. Mostly everything nowadays has a 3" screen or even higher.

The 32mb card is just something so the consumer can start with and later on use as a backup. I don't think the card is supposed to be a selling point.

Canon used to ship older Powershots with 16MB cards, anyways is pretty stupid since you can't even record 1 second of video with this card!

14.7 MP is kind of big size photo for automatic camera- for normal 3x5 or 4x6 photos- 6MP is more then enough. Sure people will say they can more freedom to crop the photo, but that won't happen on most of the automatic camera user. I will suggest spend a little more get the G9 or G10 with image stabilized zoom lens- that might help the family photographer.

Sometimes you dont need to take 14.7mp pictures so a 32mb card could hold a few lower resolutions images. Regardless I think 14.7mp is a bit much for everyday picture taking for the normal user.

i am boycotting this megapixel craze. camera companies need to know people are looking at other camera attributes, like wide angle lens, low light sensitivity, etc. There should be more research effort to improve low-light photography in point and shoot cameras. flash should be a thing of the past.

Ok, so folks this is getting rediculous...14.7Mp through a pin hole lens of a camera. Come on, what a waste of SSD and disk space. This marketing scheme of bigger is better has gotten to a threshold of..I ain't getting anything for my money and I am spending way to much for storage devices..even though storage costs are at a all time low. Less than 5% of folks do anything with the photos they take such as cropping etc.. You take your 14MP sized photos to walmart or Costco to have them printed and wait and wait to up load them and all they use is 3MP (fact) worth of data through there photo machines....all for what..nothing. Canon makes great point and shoot cameras. They just need a new marketing angle or feature set that sets them apart other then sensor size which is null at this point..well beyond in fact. Over and out....

The tiny 32MB cards are just so that you can test out the camera to make sure it works. The camera companies probably would rather keep the price of the camera low rather than including a big memory card since they figure that you'll buy your own SD card suiting your own needs (g, not everyone needs a 16GB SD card) or may already own a few SD cards.

Remember -- you can always take pictures with lower resolution if you want to save memory -- nobody is forcing you to take it at 14.7MP. To have the OPTION of taking it at 14.7MP is a great feature, IMO...
