check this thing out in stores before you buy it, i saw it at fry's and thought it'd be a cool retro-style wide angle camera, but the pop up flash has a super flimsy feel to it.
The flash is lame on most compacts. Panasonic has some nice super zooms ones too. I like Canon because they offer nice underwater cases for them. Divers do it deeper..
Better off with the Panasonic ZS3 - $50 more, but better picture quality and sturdier feel. No lame pop up flash that you need to push back into place when not in use.
+1 on the Panasonic DMC-ZS3. I just purchased one and couldn't be happier! Replaced my trusty Canon SD800is, and the Wide Angle and Zoom is just incredible! Also takes great video with AVCHD-Lite format.
I just got the ZS1 which is basically the ZS3 without HD video and a lesser display for $239 at Amazon. Also extremely pleased with it. Panasonic is the best kept secret in digital photography.
