A great super zoom camera( 24-840mm optical - not digital scaling )- Good for some one want DSLR function but not ready for DSLR ( Like my friend who doesn't want to deal with DSLR body and several lens). If you consider it's zoom range / function/ picture quality - this is a good value camera to me. The eBay seller is "beachcamera" - a reputable seller so you don't have to worry about the quality. Normally amazon daily price is about $380.
I've had the sx1 and the sx20 - loved them both (still use the sx1 regularly. i consider this series among the best of the superzooms, and as good as some entry level slr's. The one thing they didn't hit a point on for me was night time sensitivity (due to their small sensor size) - but don't get me wrong - it's still worlds better than any point and shoot pocket cam you're going to find. I often grab my sx1 instead of my slr when i want to carry JUST a camera - not a camera + 4 lenses + cleaning pads, etc
Now, both of my cams, while several generations removed from this one, were still good for most of my shooting, without any "i wish i had my slr" feelings. Only a few specialty situations, or very dim shots were like that. This should be better at night shots, due to the use of a backlit CCD
