hmmmm....i thought circuit city closed down.
I think someone bought the website/rights/online store name and is using it.
anybody had experiences with these sdhc cards versus the hard drives? is there a significant benefit in speed of the recording? i'm looking for one but the one with the sdhc seems so much lighter and cheaper.
i guess all the stores closed down except for the website.
I thought I saw one store still open somewhere in Sacramento,CA
All the stores are closed. The online business and naming rights were bought out in the bankruptcy sale. It is a different company.
As for the camcorder, it's great. Big advantage to the SDHC cards is that they are completely silent, so there's no hard drive / tape whine on your recordings.
If you have a costco near you, go check them out. They are closing out this model and had a couple left in our store for $430 a few days ago. New of course, not refurb, and with Costco's return policy.
Be sure to check out the "new" Circuit City's return policy before you buy anything, it's pretty bad.
#3,
Non-flash hard drive systems have moving parts. If you use the internal microphone alot (or all the time) it will often pick up that movement. The all flash based systems only have moving parts in the optics. The only thing you need to do is make sure you buy a class4 card or better and you will be able to record even at the highest record setting (1920x1080, progressive at 25 or 30fps, 17Mbps at about 1Hour on 8GB).
I have the HF-100 which is the flash based driveless version of this same camera. I MUCH prefer not having the internal storage and the money I saved at the time not buying this model with internal storage as there is no confusion where I record to. I can take the cards out of the system and put them right into a memory card reader rather than dig up a transfer cable for the camera.
SDHC flash cards are pretty cheap and as time goes on the higher capacity cards. Personally I use 8GB cards because there isn't much I need to be recording for more than an hour straight where I can't switch to another card. At that size too I can back up the entire card to DVD.
I have also heard that the newer lines using the DIGIC III are slightly worse than the II's and the newer ones don't do as well as the II's in low light.
Circuit Cities website was bought by Systemax/Tiger Direct/Compusa.
I have the HF-100, and the quality is awasome! I believe it's the best HD flash memory camcorder out there, but with recent release of other mfg, and models, this model is kind of outdated now. I am now using Panasonic DMC-ZS3 more than this FS-100, since it is very compact, while the quality is similar, but the features may not be as much as FS-100.
a little over priced
I'm still waiting for the XH-A1 to come down in price so I quickly gobble it up

thanks a bunch..your answer bascially answered all my fears.
just one more if you can answer..i can't find the HF100 would the HF200 be just as good.
thnx
