Also consider the HF100, which is the same camera minus the internal memory and sells for about $500 now.

HF100 + 3 16GB SDHC cards = better deal than HF10 for the same price.

i wanted to buy a tv from abes, but bought it at the evil best buy - so i could purchase an extended warranty. I wouldn't have saved much by buying it from abe anyway.

Abe's is legit. Some deals they don't control the inventory very well and end up canceling if too many get on (last SD card deal)

#1 - I have the HF10 and I must say that having the built in memory is a great feature. For me, it was worth the extra expense. I most often record to removable media but it's nice to have the built in memory as a back up. Also, the HF10's all black finish is aesthetically superior IMO, to the HF100's silver/grey finish. Also worth noting, Canon makes the extended battery in black only, making it more of an eye sore when used with the HF100. Keep in mind that the HF10 will always exceed the HF100's recording capability (without swapping cards) by 16 GB. That's two hours of recording in the highest quality. So yeah, if you find no value in aesthetics and or the convenience of built in memory, then the HF100 is the better choice.

I have HF100, the reg. battery only lasts 1 hr, the extended 2hrs. It's not the memory that will limit use but more the battery life. I have just got 3 8gb sd cards @$4 and change each ♦after rebate. Save some money and get the HF100 + memory + xtra battery.
