I love it but just a few things you need to know.

      1. The OIS sucks. It really does.
      2. This does not record in Blu-ray so you can't burn it to a DVD and play it on your PS3. You have to convert it for use on a dvd player.
      3. Resource hog! If you don't have a very fast computer, forget it. I have a quad core, 4GB RAM, a semi-expensive video card, and 1TB of memory. At 8GB an hour, you will need the space. I have four 16GB SDHC cards and an external battery.
      4. You have to charge the battery in the camera.
      5. Bitch trying to find software that really works well for editing.

      The good:
      1. Great videos
      2. Light weight
      3. Good battery life (over an hour)
      4. Ability to swap out the cards. Unlike internal memory that you better download or you will be sorry if you need to record.
      5. SDHC so no moving parts except the controls of course

Isn't this place one of the "You have to call us to verify your order" types, where they slam you to buy accessories and such when you call?

      SCanon rocks.

#16 - It records at 1920x1080 at the highest setting. Otherwise it records at 1440x1080. It includes software you can use to convert the DVD to burn to a DVD to play back on a standard DVD player. It also records in AVCHD format which all Bluray players including the PS3 can play back. If you plug in an SDHC card from the camcorder directly into a PS3 it will play the video directly from the card. You can also burn AVCHD files to a normal DVD and play it on a Bluray player.

#5, I live about 15 minutes from a 6th ave store. Was there yesterday, in fact, looking at this cam and the HF10. They've always been decent to deal with. Not much different than Best Buy as far as knowledge of products, but they aren't pushy like BB. They used to be a large-ish chain around the NY/NJ area.

#12, according to the specs & instruction manual Class 4 cards should suffice for the highest resolution (17Mbps = 2.125 MB/sec), but personally I've been using Class 6 cards.

how does this compare to minidv hd quality? i've heard minidv is still better.
also, what is the min computer system requirements to edit avchd? dual core 2.4 and 2gb ram would suffice?

#23, you're wrong about compatibility with Blu-ray. I have it and it will not. There are actually two different AVCHD formats. This one saves as an MTS file while Blu-ray saves as MP4 file.

That is the only draw-back to this thing.

FYI - The Western Digital TV Box at BestBuy.com for $99.99 will play this AVCHD file with no issue.

#30, you're wrong. I have the tv box and it will not play this format of AVCHD, only Blu-ray (MP4).

There is a work around that is very easy but a pain since you have to change the file designation/file extension for each individual file. Change the .mts to .m2ts and it will play through this unit. Looks great but you have to do it for each file.

An even better deal than last week, when I said the price needs to be a little better to make me buy. I am definitely tempted now...
