I bought the HF20 on black Friday. Its a nice camera size and feature wise, but be very aware of the terrible file management. The pixela software is not easy to work with. If you manually change the files on the filesystem for any reason you will not be able to view that file on the camcoder or use the camcorder to view it on the TV. I emailed canon and they said there is no way to do it and to talk to pixela. So don't manually do anything with the files. So whats the big deal. You always have to use the camcorder to transfer the files to the hard drive of the computer. You can't manage them with the shipped Pixela software. I was ready to bring the camera back.
All the reviews I read never mentioned this. They also never mentioned that you need to have a beefy computer to watch the files. They play nice when the camcorder is connected to the TV, but playing on my computer its real choppy, even at the LP resolution. It has something to do with the avchd stuff.
So be aware that the shipped software is horrible and that your files might not play smooth on your computer. These items are not mentioned in most of the reviews I read.

Mine is arriving tomorrow. I believe I will be able to insert the sdhc card directly into PS3 and transfer/play the files...

I have the HF 20- it is very similar. It saves in MTS format, so you will need a program that reads mts files. You will also need a powerful pc to run view the video and edit as well.

I have the HF20 from BF. Been using Adobe Premiere Elements 7 with no problems. Never even installed the Canon software. Works like a charm since Adobe PE7 recogonizes AVCHD. It's been a known fact (for a couple of years now) that (editing) software has been lagging behind the AVCHD format. Rendering still takes forever and a day, even with my quad core and 8GB ram.
