Anyone have experience with this one? I'm trying to determine whether HD video capability ought to be a deciding factor in buying a DSLR.

We have this, great camcorder. included battery is not so great, but I guess thats any camera. Takes great movies. Make sure u buy an SDHC card thats at least a 4 rating to record the HD video - there is no internal memory.

I have the HF20 (only difference between the HF200 and HF20 is the HF20 has 32GB built-in flash memory). It's decent, if a little grainy. The built-in lamp isn't that great, either. If you're going to get it, I would wait for Black Friday next week, though, because Best Buy will have the HF20 for the same price that newegg has the HF200 right now.

Otherwise, if you're going to get a DSLR that does 1080p, I can't see how that could possibly be a bad thing, unless it's difficult to operate, because the VIXIA is really simple.

Edit: Monoprice has a really good deal on the mini-HDMI cable you'll need to hook this up to your HDTV.

I have the HF20 that I use at work. Works great outdoors, but indoors produces grainy pictures. This is still 10 times better than the sony dchc38 that I use at home. The HF200 will work the same at the HF20. I personally only like to use the SDHC card to save to, so I can pull the video off the card and not the camcorder. Less cords and less hassle. This is an ok price, but wait. Wait for the holiday sales.
