I don't have any personal experience with this camera, but in doing research a couple of months ago, it seems that this new model is not as good in most respects as the model it replaced (the HF100). You may want to wait until next years models come out if you aren't in a rush to buy.

I have the HF100 and can confirm that it's a great camera. Seems performance in some respects took a step back with the new model.

I have shot a couple of porns with this. The flesh tones on my penis were very accurate and you could see pretty much every detail on my nutsack.

I would go for the HG20...HDV is still much better quality and editing ability than the solid state HD camcorders...

If your local costco is still selling the HF-10 for $549, that would be a much better deal than the new HF-200 IMO. Better performance, lower price, and 16GB of memory built-in.

#7 doesn't know what he is talking about.
HDV format is dying out and will be gone within a few years.
AVCHD is the way to go (at least all major camcorder manufacturers think so).
HDV max rez is 1440x1080 (needs to be stretched out, some quality lose)
AVCHD max rez is 1920 X 1080 (full HD) plus this camera records at 24Mbps.

Which way to go? HDV vs AVCHD?
Leaning AVCHD for future compatibility. Although everything seems to be obsolete in a few years.
