you really cant beat the cannon scanners, especially something with this high of a resolution for this price. IT can even work with negatives and integrates well with photoshop. you cant ask for a better scanner...

I second what #1 says. I got this almost two years ago and it is an excellent product. I paid $35 more and still consider it a bargain. You can use it to generate PDFs for archiving as well as a copier when used with your printer.

Maybe this is why it is not currently available at J&R.

Great scanner photo scanner, but like all flatbed scanner, not the greatest for slide/negatives (slow).

I've used this in my university's computer lab. I love Canon products in general, and this scanner definitely lives up to the reputation. Canon imaging products are a safe bet - good support, as well.

#3 nailed it, though (slowness aside) if all you want to scan slides for is to put on a DVD slide show it's fine. I paid $35 more a while ago and it was still a bargain.

Was just wondering about the experience with the drivers and software you guys had. The model is slightly old (2004) and I was wondering if there would be some hiccups or compatibility problems and if the software bundle is any use. Thanks.
