Great Deals at Costco, but employees are a pain. Great deal from Amex, and great rewards program. You can count on savings, satisfaction, and cash back.
why the discover openRoad card is really bad. read the fine print folks... its 1 percent after your 3000 dollars spending and something something for other things.
I dont know about others.
But there is a Bank of America has AMEX card that seems to be paying 1.25% cash back. Thats much better I think on your regular purchase.
For gas purchases I don't know some other card I think that has 5%cash back.
Also, Discover has one card that pays cash back but based on certain time period. Thats good for those who keep track.
Rest are I guess who you are all about. But make sure you read the fine print. Most of these benefits are at very bottom of the Online forms agreement. Its only a para so read it, and make sure you want it. Don't just go out and take it for only few months, and cancel it. Cancelling too much cards over time is bad for your credit line; from someone I heard.
Rest Is all you..
Not listed.. American Express Blue Cash. I think it's still the best all-around cash-back card if you spend more than about $15-20K per year on the card.
5% back on gas, grocery, and drug stores after you meet the spend minimums. Pair it with other cards like Discover More to get more cash back in other categories.
(Mohit - no cash back limit on the Amex Blue Cash and it's also 1.25% on all other purchases after you spend the minimum)
Here's a list of good cards:
http://money.cnn.com/galleries/2009/moneymag/0907/gallery.credit_cards.moneymag/index.html
Nice benefit to the True Earnings card is that the cash back doesn't cap at a certain amount each year like other cards.
The best card I and find is the Charles Schwab card with 2% rebate for everything. No minimum. The catch is you have to have a brokarage account with them. The rebate is deposited to your account every month.
yeah, but I hate that minimum amount you got to spent.
I don't like the strings attached kind of thing.
I think I spent around 10k maybe in a year, but Amex,
asks to spend above 7500 to get 5%; that also on above that
7500; so for people like me its not worth it.
That 1.25% for Blue Cash is all other purchases is also same thing.
otherwise its like 0.5 percent.
Thats balances out for most people, unless you are one of those people that spend like crazy and put it only one card.
Thanks though. Appreciate your response.

But the card I am talking about is from:
Bank of America® Accelerated Cash Rewards™ American Express® Card
For 1.25% cashback; no minimum to spend; no strings.

What Costco do you belong to in which employees are a pain? The 4 Sams Clubs I belonged to over the years in PA, GA, VA and NC had employees who had noticeably lower morale on average than the many Costco's I've visited/had memeberships at. It's also a known fact that Costco pays their employees more than Sams Club (google it). Costco also has noticeably better merchandise compared to other Clubs.
Can someone recommend a good Visa/MC? I need one to round out my credit cards since some places only take Visa/MC.
it depends on what services you use the most.
Like say if you shop at amazon.com a lot,
then they got visa for them etc...
so its your choice or maybe that chase freedom visa
is alright I guess. Not sure how much they will slam
you with the APR's. Otherwise there are many.
basically all are with 1% cash back only; otherwise
for extra cash back or credit back they tie you to shop
at certain places only... for you to benefit; but make sure
security and safety of the card like unauthorized transactions
is there.
