In general, is the Amex Costco True Earnings better than the previous Costco Amex card? has anyone done the math.

Don't get credit cards. You'll run up your debt and get into trouble.

I've noticed on my Chase card they have some due dates over the week end which has resulted in $15 late fees.

I used to have a Citi <blah> card, with the 5% on gas and 1% everywhere else. They don't go out of their way to tell you it tops out at $300 cash back per year.

Emigrant Direct has 1.4% cash back on everything, as long as you have $10K in savings with them - they pay it directly into your account, rather than you having to request it.

They don't want you to pay on time, they don't make any money that way, they only make money when they claim your check didn't get there and then zap you with $39 late fees.

Amex, Citi, Chase, they are all scum looking to cheat you, they are not banks, they are crooks.

I was looking at the Amex card then decided not to go with it.
I found this card and you have to have excellent credit to get the card. Right up my alley!
$0 transfer fee and fixed %'s..
    What do you Guys/Gals think?
Good or bad plastic/company? All plastic is bad(DUH) but I am looking for a new card.

I actually still have that Amex "blah" card, which WAS great with the 5% on gas/grocery, until I get a letter one day saying that "Due to consumer demand, you will now earn 2% on gas/grocery & utility", WTF retarded consumer thought they would save more with that 2% on utility rather than 5% at the other two places... the math doesn't work out, so clearly it was a Citi Corporate move that they blamed on retarded customers (of which, many of them probably didn't even noticed this would be a drastic change in cashback amounts)

Just a heads-up---the Costco card pays 3% at Costco gas stations only. Membership fee is $100 per annum and the cashback is in the form of a check cashable only at Costco. Check comes once a year, but you can make a minimum purchase and get the remainder in cash. A plus---your picture is on the back of the card, so you don't need additional ID when using the card. Use the card for at least $10000 per year (NEVER carry a balance)and your membership at Costco is free!

    - Card companies advertise all the great "Rewards" with their cards
    - Card companies then charge merchants additional fees when reward cards are used
    - Merchants then raise the price on all products (cash or card purchases) to cover the additional fees and maintain their profit margin

Card companies are making it from both consumers (who run a balance) and merchants. Pretty smart deal for the card companies. Pay cash and you are penalized with the higher price and no reward.

#5 & #11, are you burp jokers? Either of your plans sucks. Give INg 10k, to keep, and pay you 1.5% on purchases, how about 4% on the 10k? and Costco, spend 10k a year there? They should be sucking my schlong for that!

#13---I am not advocating obtaining the Costco card, I was providing a heads-up. An American Express card can be used wherever it is accepted. You may have missed this, but; the American Express card includes Costco membership.

Not true. I just applied for and received this card 2 weeks ago and specifically checked this in the cardmember agreement.

Also incorrect. A standard Costco membership is $50/year. Executive membership is $100/year but comes with an additional 2% back on Costco purchases. There are no additional annual fees for the card other than your Costco membership.

This isn't true. A merchant is charged the same rate for a Visa transaction whether it's a secured starter card with a $500 limit from Capital One or a Super Diamond Platinum Spinnin on 24s Rewards Card from some other bank.

#14, so your saying costco membership is worth 100 bucks, since that is what it, and the card costs?

This is straight up spam. Post deals on parts. Not this crap. Each time I see "credit card offers" on any site, it just takes down the reputation of the site.
