I had a 4MP Casio Exilim.
Poor build quality - they seem to have many returns.
Not great picture quality.
Now I have a 12MP Canon.
Much, much better.
I wouldn't go back to a Casio.
#1 so you are comparing a 4mp old camera to a new 12mp camera?
I would never buy a camera just because it has a higher mp output.
~6mp is enough for most application of photos.
Northsouth. MP means nothing, my ancient retired 6MP 300D will blow almost any modern point and shoot out of the water. I have trouble considering any point and shoot for quality it is always a compromise of something. Size, weight, resolution, whatever.
With that being said this camera isn't about high quality pics, it's about high speed pics and I haven't seen anything that comes close to this thing in this price range. Good photogs with massive rigs might be lucky enough to catch a single perfect frame of something high speed, with this thing you don't need to be lucky. Set it to 15 frames before shutter release and 15 after and you will probably get about 5 frames of what you were looking to capture.
I keep this in my kit bag along with my 50d and oddly enough I find I use this little thing quite a bit. The high speed video is insane and the high speed pic taking is a blast.
My best outing with this thing was at the NHRA nationals at Infineon raceway last year. I had the big hog out and was trying to catch a launch from one of the top fuel funny cars. I tried 6 times and missed 6 times. I was looking for the perfect plume of fire out of the manifolds and catching the tires with the wrinkles. The Oakley car was staging and I was frustrated as could be so I broke out the FC100. 15 before 15 after. I see the tree start ticking out of the corner of my eye and press the button, the instant I saw green I let go. I had 8 frames that we gorgeous. 5 feet of fire with deep wrinkles in the tires, exactly what I wanted.
They make a solid camera, I prefer my cybershot
