I have the smaller versions of this. If you have never tried one of these high speed jobbers you should. Well worth the price. I bought this one first but sent it back to get a smaller more pocket sized. Very satisfied.

I don't get it. Other than sports what application would 40fps be good for? If you are shooting sports you should be using slr.

      #3, everything.
I have the 60 fps version. I got it for one reason. no matter what, I stink with a camera. when I hit the button, I get 60 chances to get a shot with eyes open, just the right look, just the right instant. whatever. and I need all the luck I can get.
And if you're really shooting sports, it doesn't matter how much your DSLR cost, the price of a real lens for it alone is mind-numbing.

I'd look at a Fuji or Canon for this similar feature set.

The 40 fps uses a lower resolution for capture.

It also does not record sound in the high speed video mode.

It does take AA's and sd cards which are both nice.

The real thing with these is that they can shoot all the way up to 1000fps (at lower resolution). There is no other camera out there that can touch that feature for anywhere near the price. What is 1000 fps good for? Pretty much everything, but in my line of work it is great for troubleshooting mechanisms. I bet hummingbirds would be pretty cool too.
