Ends 12/6. Newegg has the Cavalry SATA 2-Bay USB 2.0 Dock with RAID (EN-CAHDD2B-D) for $20 with free shipping. This two-bay, hot-swappable USB 2.0 dock is perfect for lumping together your odd-capacity drives into one Spanning device. Supports JBOD and BIG (Spanning) configurations.
Because of the speed difference, I just can't justify buying a USB 2 dock for disk drives. USB 3 makes the external drive run just as good as if it were plugged into the motherboard.
I do find USB2 acceptable for some things though, like streaming multimedia files so the only necessary performance metric is whether it can keep up with the playback bit rate.
^ I have read that some double slot docks make the HDDs run hot, but my single slot Rosewill docsk with Seagate Green/LP drives in them don't get more than mildly warm.

^ It'll perform far faster than on USB2 but it won't keep up with an e/SATA with a modern HDD, let alone a SSD -
