Amaz review indicate this is a cloner, NOT a duplicator. The target disk needs to be larger. Read those 2 reviews for the caveats if you are thinking of purchasing this item.
Does 1SaleADay actually ship out orders?
Well it says you can clone identical size Hard Drive but you have to use computer and load the software on your computer to do this. Only if you don't want to use the computer new Hard Drive has to be larger than the oryginal one.
Correct me if I am wrong.
Thanks for the heads up rkpoo!
Also, does anyone know if I had this hooked up to PC and I put two formatted hard drives in this unit, would they just appear as additional drives on the PC. This way, I would be able to say, copy some data from one drive to the other?
^ Yes Izzybob you should be able to do that, though with them both over the same USB3 port, particularly copying smaller files, it'll be a bit slower than if one were a SATA (direct interface connection to motherboard) drive... but still a lot faster than USB2.
As for the size cloning issue, what I suspect they mean is that you might find two HDD of different make or model marked as 1TB for example but their actual size may vary slightly. If you happened to have a 1TB with an existing partition and the 2nd new/empty 1TB were a few MB lower capacity, it couldn't create an identical partition on the second HDD.
Same situation comes up when you try to swap a HDD in an existing RAID array w/o any docking station.
Thanks davc
Save $2 by using code "benssavings" - no quotes. I just used it and it worked fine.
