After one of my stainless non-stick pans was left to boil dry on a burner and bubbled away the coating I also polished the remainder away and food hardly sticks to it as well.
That's the catch with teflon, don't overheat it and if you do, throw it away if it's aluminum because even if you polish aluminum it will oxidize to a stickier finish.
If you really want something cool go and buy a pre WWII griswold or Wagner cast iron skillet at a flea market in good shape. Be prepare to pay much more than $20 for two, however.
Good price and great reviews.
price shows $29.95 ... gone ??
It's gone
They are back up for $20, but I won't buy anything with Teflon or similar coating. Cast iron or steel for me all the way now.
I polished my allclad-made set of stainless down to a mirror-like finish and food hardly sticks at all.
