Citizen Eco-Drive watches rock. I've had the Calibre 2100 for a little over 5 years now and love it. The only thing I've had done to it is to replace the mineral crystal with a sapphire. In the 5 years I've had it, the power meter has never dropped out of the "full" range.
For reasons not worth sharing, I've wound up with 3 Eco-Drive watches. All have been functioning perfectly for years, including a perpetual calendar model.
Barring damage/physical abuse, their lifespan is much better than 10 years these days, the prior post must have been referring to many years ago when battery tech wasn't as good as it is today.
#5 - I sent it to Citizen. The mineral crystal got very scratched up. I asked them if they could replace it with a sapphire crystal. They said they would do it for $100 (it was about $40 to replace with a mineral) so I went ahead with the sapphire. I've had the sapphire in for about two years and it hasn't a single scratch on it. It looks much better too. I would not take it to any repair shop for something like this. They will most likely rune the waterproof seal.
I have a Bulova watch right now, but I've been really interested in getting a Citizen. My friend has one and it looks sexy. Hopefully going to purchase one in the next year or so.

or you can get the non-eco versions for $100 less, then with batteries good for 4 years costing $1 each, you're set for 400 years.
Agreed. My favorite watch brand. They got some good looking models.

how did you change the crystal?
It will stop after 10 years.
If you are lucky, it may last up to 20 years.
Just get a cheap Casio 10 year battery watch.
Any watch repair shop can do that.

The batteries can be replaced but probably not worth the trouble.

Who still wears watches these days? I don't think I've had one on in about 10 years. Stylish..yes, necessary..no.
Only poor people don't wear a watch because $3 is a lot of money to them.
