I think that MOFO is the biggest rodeo cowboy on this board... his GED education is shining as bright as a supervova... in case you dont know what that is Mofo, its not a song by Oasis.

His comments are rodeo cowboy at best... just proves that a little knowledge is dangerous.

HD-DVD is a dead format... On the xbox, like the dumb ass #18 tried to convey... nice format buddy, since its not even playing in 1080P. Atleast the PS3 does 1080P out of the box without having to pay for a subpar HD-DVD player that doesnt even do 1080p cause it doesnt even have HDMI connections.
Its evident that HD-DVD is dying, since a lot of the movie studios are becoming Blu Ray only.
Toshiba is the only one out there that is doing a stand along player... LG and Samsung tried and i emphasize tried to make a good combo format, but both of them suck.
Pioneer, Samsung, Sony, Panasonic and others all have stand alone blu ray players, more big names are behind it and none of them are even wanting to make a stand along player for a format that doesnt even compare to blu ray.
The PS3 was a better concieved design when it came to everything, since it had HiDef already built in, didnt have to add a $200 external device to it to make it play movies.
The quality of the games on the PS3 look better also, im talking about a graphics stand point, its much more brighter and colorful compared to the 360. I have an xbox and its a POS, ive already had to replace it and it seems to be getting slower and slower as the days go on. The PS3 boots up fast and no problems at all. Didnt see Sony have the problems that Microsoft did and still has... the Red Ring of Death has hit a bunch of people, im sure a lot of people on this board has had it or know someone who has had it.

Even if you hate Sony, you will eventualy have to give in and buy something blu ray to play hi def movies since you wont be able to rent them anywhere, since blockbuster has snubbed their nose to that format. Hollywood video doesnt count, cause no one goes there to begin with.

With HD-DVD out of the way, now Blu-Ray is the final puny obstacle for the coming reign of Versatile Multilayer Disc!

You'll have to excuse m0f0, he/she enjoys pointing out typos and errors in grammar due to having no life. Boy, those high schools in the ghetto are really turning out winners.

um, you damn rodeo cowboy, HDDVD is over with, according to netflix, blockbuster, warner bros, and walmart. watch universal and paramount go to bluray after toshiba decides to quit taking a loss on supporting the format
even though hd dvd looks better and makes use of the little space they have on the discs, compared to blurays massive amount of space, but barely uses it. for a while, bluray lived up my butt, but crawled out when demand for it increased. hd dvd is soon to insert into my cornholio to take its spot

#34, what are you saying? Are you perhaps somehow possibly hinting that there is a slight slim chance that Blu-Ray may possibly somehow win the format war?

All your HD base belong to Sony. burp it, standard DVDs are cheap, plentiful, and save me from tossing out a perfectly good TV to dump over a $$thousand on another one. Next format drama pleeeease....

I don't know why you would buy this. At some point they will stop releasing titles in HD DVD and you'll be stuck with a format that no longer is widely used. It isnt THAT good of a deal to waste your time.

I don't understand why people react so violently against this. If you already have an HD player... great!!! Buy the HD's while you can still get them and get them cheap!! If you don't own a player already... don't bother. Easy as that. If you want to save some cash and get a cheap upconverting player buy an HD player... if you don't care... then wait for Bluray player/PS3 prices to come down. I honestly have not been impressed with performance on the PS3 as a bluray player. I would much rather wait until a better version comes out that also costs a lot less.

More than likely I will build an HTPC and drop in one of the LG dual format drives (as low as $200 online in the past 2 weeks... if you find the right deals). Apparently it has great performance with PowerDVD not to mention the amount of possibilities you'll have with the rest of the computer (as opposed to having a console with 2 main functions... play dvds and play games: for around the same price might I add).
