Ends 2/14. Newegg has the Cooler Master Elite 120 Advanced Mini-ITX Case with USB 3.0 Ports and Long Video Card Support (RC-120A-KKN1) for $40 with free shipping. Well-reviewed, stylish case with aluminum and polymer front and steel alloy body is a good choice for a media PC setup. Amazon also has it for the same price.
Great choice for almost all computer setups. Unless you're wanting to load up with several drives, OC, or SLI/Cross Fire I don't see why you'd get anything larger than this. It's small quiet and can fit most all normal desktop sized parts. Leave the mid towers to the dorks!
You'd get something larger if you wanted something other than an ITX board, since most enthusiast class boards are ATX and most budget class boards that take average or faster CPUs (much over 60W), more than two memory slots, 3+ card slots, etc, are mATX.
... OR if you want it under your desk there probably isn't a height factor except that it's a lot easier to hit the power button or plug things in at the top of a tower case.
This case will take 3X3.5" HDDs, and a fourth if you want to leverage the ODD bay with a rail kit.
Most Mini ITX cases are overpriced IMHO. The Lian Li selections that use a standard sized PSU either sacrifice HDD capacity to accommodate the standard PSU, or end up being nearly the size of an mATX mid tower to accommodate multiple HDDs.
I have a $15AR Zotac Mini ITX board and extra PSU that would work nicely in this case as a compact server or NAS.
