I'm confused. Where are you guys getting this $20?

The "$40.00 Mail in Rebate valid from 2008-12-10 to 2008-12-23
Download the PDF" links to http://images.frys.com/art/rebates_pdf/5468099_121008.pdf. There's clearly a $40 next to the Product number said form.

#19: Where'd you get that link...?

Good luck to all who tried. There's always risk when shopping for such low prices.

    Thank you for contacting Frys.com.

Frys is aware of the mistake. If the rebate company does not provide you
with a $40.00 rebate check then please contact us back. We will have you
send us all the copied forms you have and we will take action with the
rebate company to get your correct amount.
keep PHOTOCOPIES of the following items
for follow-up purposes: (1) Original purchase receipt (2)
Fully-completed rebate form (3) UPC from the product.

    end frys email

I still think this will be a nightmare that lasts
    half a year...

    #25, yes, that'll be a nightmare.

there's a small dept. in every fry's store to deal w/ rebate related issues. but they are ALWAYS super busy. they promise they'll give u a call in 30 min, but they'll never do.
u'll need to actually go there and talk to them multiple times to have them fight with rebate for u.

I read on another deal site that Fry's is supposed to have them update the rebate to $40. I went ahead and ordered. If they don't correct it, I will be either returning the Ram (on their dime),or getting paid from Fry's directly, via a price Adj. or an extra $20 rebate from their Corporate ofc. Worth a little extra hassle at this price IMO.

While this is a good price, it is also an example of a purchase and rebate not to bother with if you can't accept the possiblity of extra work getting the money back.

Although memory chip prices went up slightly again today, they're still quite cheap and you should have a few more changes for a good deal into Q1 '09.
