Need to get my parents a wireless router, but not only is this thing ugly, I'd have to deal with rebates. Never heard of this CP Technologies company either.

$31 rebate? Very interesting amount. You don't see that everyday.

AutoMDI is nice. No worries about crossover cables, or the
    lack thereof.

Looks like another cheap alternative like Trendnet. If it works, it works.

I don't know about this router but TrendNET router is actually not that bad (based on 2-3 months of use) good speed and connection range, isn't dropping signal yet. There could be one catch with trendNET though the rebate. They say they didn't receive the receipt and UPC but received rebate form so keep copies of the rebate forms, Also, its been about 2-3 months and haven't received my rebate yet?
Again this is about trendNET and not CP techno Router.

Don't like the hassle of rebates..maybe I'd do it if it was free after rebate.

people, please! you're talking about a gateway that all of your internet traffic passes through. DON'T buy the cheap one! Buy a decent router, it's like the lock on your front door.

Most all vendors choose between just a few chipsets to build
this kind of equipment... there can be quality differences
in how the HW is implemented, though, and you will notice a
difference in ease-of-use: how hard is it to set up, etc.

That said, I don't know if this company is on the good side
or the bad side of quality.

CP Tech. . .hm haven't heard of that one. . .more leary about rebates for the smaller brands. I would pick Trendnet before this one. . .though it sounds like they might have rebate issues as well.

Looks like a damn cake pan. I would make sure to get something good for the parents. Don't want to get called every day when the cheap baconnaise breaks.

#1 get your parents a good router otherwise it will just be a support headache for you. You parents will call you whenever something goes wrong, unless you set them up with a VoIP phone...

    Crossroads,

Thanks for the info. I'm new to DSL and wireless, so can the WRT54G also work as a modem also. Trying to find a modem/wireless router combo so I do not have to pay the modem rental fee. Any suggestions?

    Thank again

stay away from rebates, they are bothersome and the companies want you to go through hoops for it.
