Sears has the Craftsman 10 in. Compound Miter Saw (M2500RC3) for $100 - 10% off in cart - $5 off with coupon code SEARSLOVE = $85 + shipping. Shipping is $14; free in-store pickup in most locations. Features a 10" 40-tooth carbide tip saw blade. The 15 amp motor cuts up to 2" x 6" boards. [Compare]

If you don't need the Craftsman name, and have a Harbor Freight store nearby, you can pick up a 10" SLIDING compound miter saw there (HF's brand) for about the same price.

Difference? The sliding action gives you range out to a 2x10 board, maybe even a 2x12. Same price, twice the capacity. Smile

@ #1, that's great as long as you don't need straight cuts either. Also, if you only plan on making about 10 cuts it would be worth it.

Own it. Great for the weekend remodeler, but wouldn't try to make a living with it. You get what you pay for with tools like this.

I haven't played with all the Harbor Freight tools but generally they are a big step down from Craftsman. Not that Craftsman is contractor grade or anything but Sears equivalent quality brand to most of the stuff HF sells is called "Companion".

The guy in the movie Fargo could have really used this.

I have had this same one for years, made a dock, deck stairs and a ton of various smaller projects - works great, even for that pesky crown molding...

I checked out the Harbor Freight ones. The cheaper sliders slide poorly. Bearings feel like gravel. The more expensive ones were better. I wouldn't get one.
