I've used Craftsman ratchets and sockets for about 8 years now and I have never been failed. I've always been able to use them and trust that nothing will break. I've used them to rebuild engines even and they worked very well.

#1 speaks truth. My Craftsman set is bullet proof.

The only thing that gets on my nerves with these XXX-piece sets is that they include the case and holders as pieces and I don't feel that that qualifies as valid

Bought this for $99 2 or 3 months ago. Returned it for a Crescent set from Costco ($80, similar quality, as far as I can tell, and similar number/selection of tools. Can be returned as long as you're a member). As whatatay said, it's got a lot of allen wrenches counting toward that count. Also the case doesn't hold the combination wrenches well. Every time I opened the case, some of the wrenches would be out of their slots.
