great price.
... holding out for $1 a piece
Although, I guess they could take the chain off the pocket 4-way and call that piece #25.
screw this
seems like this would be better if the kit included 12 Phillips and 12 flat. That way, you just might have a slim chance of finding one when you actually need one.
#2: How about $0.59 each?
22 piece screwdriver set for $12.99 with this coupon: http://bensbargains.net
Or, how about $0.15 each?
32 piece screwdriver set for $4.95, with this coupon: http://bensbargains.net
that set even includes a nice carrying case.
Covered by a lifetime warranty.
Please don't even mention Harbor Freight unless you intend to throw it away in a couple of uses. I once bought a motorized drain snake from them and it almost cut my face when the coil in the drum somehow came loose. When I told them about this dangerous problem, they said they knew about it and were looking for a fix!!! Why would you sell tools that you know could injure people?!? Harbor Freight is garbage.
Well #5, if you want I'll make you a set out of cookie dough come December and sell 'em for 25 cents each. At least then they have a useful purpose.
#7: but why buy that for $0.25 each when I can get real carbon-steel heat-treated screwdrivers with a lifetime warranty for $0.15 each?
I would estimate that most people will have no problems at all with harbor freight's low-cost screwdrivers.
As I've said before, the three sets of screwdrivers that I bought from woot.com a long time ago for $0.01 each + $5 shipping are working great.
Why spend more if you don't have to?
Sure, if you're going to use your screwdrivers as pry bars, or otherwise abuse them, then sure, maybe it is worth it for you to buy more expensive ones.
For everyone else, there's Harbor Freight.
Hardly #8, even the superior (Craftsman for example) screwdrivers get damaged using them as screwdrivers are intended to be used. Why?
1) Normal wear. If you actually USE the things they will wear out eventually. At first they wear slow but the more worn they are the sooner they start to slip out of screw heads.
2) Ever taken a really close look at screw heads? They aren't very well machined in many cases which isn't surprising considering it's a 3 cent component. They rust, they get overtorqued by the person who installed them, their heads get damaged from overtorque or someone trying to use crappy screwdrivers or too old and worn ones that slip out a few times. Result is you can make the head even worse and spend multiple times longer trying to get a screw out if you do at all.
3) If your crappy screwdriver can't get it out you're then left using an EZ-Out, drilling the head off, grinding it off, then you have to try and use pliers or similar to get the rest of the screw body out. A real pain in the ass compared to using a good screwdriver in the first place.
Put simply Cheezwiz, you don't understand the difference because you have minimal experience using a screwdriver. I've probably used one around the house this month more than you have in your lifetime, not even counting fiddling with computers.
