Ends today. Sears has the Craftsman 255-Piece Mechanics Tool Set with Lift Top Storage Chest (35255) for $150 + $0 shipping with coupon code REALJOY = $150 shipped. Includes 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" drives with 158 sockets, 3 quick-release ratchets, 28 wrenches and 4 extension bars.
Nice to get all the pieces together so you have a unified, sorted carrying case, though it would've been nicer still if the wrenches had storage slots so you aren't hunting through them for the next larger or smaller size.
Three ratchets had btc909 bothered to check. I partially agree this kit is overloaded with sockets and too few "old school" wrenches. No screwdrivers, pliers, or vise grips.
^ to each his own, I'd rather a set like this have the maximum range of sockets possible for the price. I already have all these sizes so it's a bit beside the point that if you're buying a socket set for this price, you already own or buy separate the other hand tools.
I guess the ultimate would be a case that has ALL of that, but it would keep growing in size, weight, and cost depending on who you asked, what should be in it.
that's a freaking deal for all of it for a starter

Two rachets & a bunch of old school hand wrenches, no deal.
