Sears link doesn't work but here's the KMart one: http://www.kmart.com/shc/s/p_10151_10104_9990000048642711P?keyword=craftsman+4.8+volt&sid=K-on-Sx20k061224x02
In any case, what exactly makes this a ... "Pistol Screwdriver" vs. just a drill? And any comments on how well it works around the house?
#1 - my mom is tired of just pistol screw around the house - get her a rifle screw from #3!!
#1, smaller, lighter, arguably cheaper, lower voltage, only one slower speed, 1/4" collet instead of a chuck, and comes with several bits.
Personally I'd rather a dual speed range, variable speed drill for the higher torque but somebody must buy these things or they wouldn't sell well enough to bother making them.
Price doesn't seem too good for what it is, and having a single battery pack and crude unregulated trickle charger.
Go with the lithium stuff... These dry nicad/nimh are old school and loose charge quickly. Better stuff for $5 - $10 more.
The chargers kill the batts. Good for 6 mos, max. Pretty expensive screwing, all said.
even if you think you just need a screw driver for $10-$15 more you can pick up a 9-12V drill that will give you a ton more flexability. You will be able to fix up tables and chairs, dressers and do just about anything around the house. I will admit the included bits are a nice touch, but just looking over the specs of this thing, you would be much better off spending about $15 more.
