Sears has the Craftsman 5/8" x 75 ft. Heavy Duty Neverkink Self-Straightening Hose on sale for $20 with free in-store pickup or $10 shipping to home. Features reflex mesh construction, solid brass octagon coupling, and MicroShield to guard against mold and mildew.
I prefer medium duty hoses, I have a long run and put it on a plastic hose reel... the lower weight makes the hose reel last a few years longer.
Keep in mind a hose with high vinyl content will be very stiff when it gets cold outside, not necessarily freezing but they work best above ~ 50-60F. They also tend to develop "memory", after being coiled it wants to roll up exactly the way it was which can mean fighting to untwist it as you coil it.
I bought this about a month ago and I"m pretty happy with it. The only regret is that you can get a comparable quality hose that is 100 ft at costco. But this is a good deal if you don't have a costco membership.
I have recently purchased both this hose and Sears' lifetime rubber hose, both in the 50 foot size. I actually prefer this hose to the all rubber hose. My Neverkink hose has yet to kink while the rubber hose easily kinks and is heavy enough to make it a chore to drag around and doesn't pull easily against posts, etc. I began replacing some old cheap hoses this spring with Sears' lifetime hoses and am happy with all of them.
Seems like recently, or atleast since I started using garden hoses, that there is some complete crap hoses out there... I bought one from lowes a couple years ago that would rather be kinked--didn't matter how it was run. So frustrating, that I cut it up into pieces and put in trash. Did this to ensure nobody would experience the torture I did if they removed it from my trash or landfill.
How can they sell a self-straightening hose that is rolled up. Just sayin'
I've got a self straightening hose right here on me..
I don't know about self straightening, but heavy duty is a must.

This comes with a "Forever Full Warranty". If this hose ever broke, take it back to Sears for an exchange.
