I use the snot out of this drill. I was actually using it to drive 3/8x4 bolts into studs yesterday. That is the first time I have found the limit of this drill. It got them most of the way in but it ran out of steam about 2/3 inches in. The motor smelled really hot too. Still a great drill so far though. Mine is a black friday deal too. The battery has gotten me through every job so far. I would like to see how the litihum batteries do in it.

Its called pre-drilling and it would avoid splitting the studs as well as allowing even a lower power driver to drive them in.

#4 - That's right... while a quick rub of paraffin wax goes a long way in lubricating threads especially in those older dry studs.

There's no drill in the world that'll drive a bolt into wood, so you probably meant a lag screw? At any rate, why waste time using any drill to drive even lag screws? Use a compact cordless impact driver - those things have so much power they'll sink the screw like you're driving it into butter.
