Sears.com has the Craftsman Digital Multimeter w/ AC Voltage Detector for $12 + shipping. Shipping is $6; free in-store pickup in most locations. This digital multimeter measures AC/DC volts, current and resistance. Also measures diode and continuity.
#20, I said "IF" I can't resolve this with a phone call or two... In other words, I plan to make that phone call, and very well may not need to dispute the charge. And yes, I chose in-store pickup.
# 17. I don't know about this meter but I have a Fluke meter and it "measures diodes". For a good diode, in the forward direction it measures the forward voltage drop. g 0.658 v or 0.713 v. In the reverse direction it displays OL indicating no current flow.

Yeah, just about any meter can check diodes.
