Sears has the Craftsman Digital Multimeter w/ AC Voltage Detector for $15 + shipping. Shipping is $6; free in-store pickup in most locations. This digital multimeter measures AC/DC volts, current and resistance. Also measures diode and continuity.
Hmmm. Harbor Freight has a similar item, except theirs is $3 on sale -- cheap enough that I've bought a bunch to drop in any location where I might need one -- garage, tool box, car...
Not such a great deal, but probably not bad for Sears.
Umm no, the harbor freight meter is shitty junk, this is at least a bare minimum quality level you can expect to use it, or at least want to be able to, 6 months later.
Good deal, even better for them throwing in the voltage detector which isn't so useful for those that have a multimeter, though a bit faster if you need to check several outlets in a row.
I got this the last time it was on sale from Sears. The detector is great - good for tracing broken X-mas lights. Also probably saved my life when I thought I had turned of a breaker - it's a quick way to determine whether a current is still flowing.
I saw the best price about $10 for multimeter only. Detector is not so useful.

No auto range no deal..
How many AC amps can run through this?
#5 - unlimited, provided it's below 100 milliamp.
