Take your $15, bury it in a hole, tell everyone you meet where it is. That will make better use of the money than this. I bought it last year and both the voltage detector and the multimeter are trash.
the voltage detector seems not working well. Never try the multimeter.
Not sure what you guys are doing that's unusual but there's nothing wrong with this set for $15. Yes you can get a better multimeter paying more, even a Fluke if you have a couple hundred bucks to spend, but the meter is typical of one costing $12-$15 alone and the AC voltage detector does work. Maybe yours needs a new battery #2?
