Does this thing actually have vista 64 bit drivers - or is it the typical crippled Creative product?

I found the answer to the 64 bit Vista drivers at the manufacturer's web site and reading the system requirements at the Egg.

Are there any good sub-$50 sound cards that provide headers to connect to the case front panel?

Isn't Audigy one of their discontinued products. With a company that does nothing to support customers of older products, I'd stay away.

How does Creative do nothing to support its customers? I have an original Audigy card and there are 64 bit Vista drivers available for it that work just fine. Compared to much of my newer hardware that will never have Vista64 drivers, I consider that pretty decent support.

Creative can bite me.

neouvou You can't expect them to support a product for 20 years. Get over your 10 year old ISA card and buy a new one

Fortunately, most sound cards built on to today's motherboards sound decent for most people.

If it's not broken don't fix it. Your ears won't hear the difference.

Some of you have unreasonable expectations. If you buy a 5-year old sound card, don't expect the company that made it 5 years ago to spend their money to make it work with today's new technology so you can be a tightwad. I bought the original Audigy MP3+ back in the Windows 2000/ME era, but I found drivers for XP on the Creative website--I thought that was lucky. (Great sound card, btw)

When you go cheap, it's buyer beware. Read reviews, check the support website for drivers, etc. This is a good card at a fine price, but not everyone's setup will like it. If you're upgrading to a new processor, it's not odd that you'll need a new motherboard. If you're upgrading to the latest and greatest OS, you might need to upgrade other things like your old sound card.

most of these comments are completely irrelevant. My soundcard was over $100.00 when I bought it, it is NOT more than five years and is NOT used on my primary computer. I can maintain a computer for over 5 years unlike some rodeo cowboy who just buy new ones when the old ones go bad. I still have my first computer, and it still works. When I have a old computer, I just stick it in another room in my house.

Anyhow, old drivers do not take up more than 20MB's which is not a lot a of space. I am not asking them to have updated technology or updated drivers, but the simplest driver which is compatible with my soundcard on their site for download. The cost for server space on their site just to have this file would cost less then a bacon double bacon burger a year and they dont even have enough customer appreciation to do so?

Yes it's old, but that is no reason for not having it available. I had to go through several stupid driver sites which require you to sign up for a paid membership in order to download a driver that should be conveniently available by the manufacturer.

This is a good card for a good price... it works very well... and is better than most on board audio... however some of the newer motherboards have really good onboard sound... so if you have an older system.. this is the way to go... a noticable difference in sound when using this.....
