Is this still the true X-Fi or another one of the rebadged audigies that they rewraped from earlier this year. I haven't been keeping up with Creative for a while now.

I believe this one is a "true" x-fi. I picked it up for $60 or so a while back and it is total crap in vista and rare are games that support its full features. Bioshock did sound better, but BF2142 sounds considerably worse over my onboard sound.

Seems like a pretty good deal to me. From what I've read, VISTA issues are resolved if you get current drivers/software directly from the Creative site rather than using the supplied CD.

It's all about price vs. performance, so this is a decent deal to upgrade from onboard audio. The XRAM is better, but by how much, I have no idea.

Anyway to verify that this is the good version? I too remember hearing there were different lines on the X-fi series. Is this the one that used to be $200?

It's a good version. It's normally priced around 50 so you get a bit of a deal. I believe this is the older model, but it's still good. As for the X-RAM, the only game I remember that used it was Battlefield 2. That's about it.

Clicking the link opens the newegg.com page, but the price shows 55.99 after rebate. Ben doesn't mention the rebate, and is there a coupon code that makes it 45? Wazzup?

The deal was posted on 8/14/08. Perhaps you waited too long.
