Yep, these are garbage. If you want to spend around $50 on a great set of knives, get the Ginsu set at Amazon. I don't remember the exact name or model number, but lots of the reviews talk about how they were a Consumer Reports Best Buy of 2009.
#1, if they were forged, you would pay $53 for one knife, not a whole set. You get what you pay for.
