Wow, one of the reviews at Amazon.com states that the pan owner was cooking some vegetables on high heat and forgot to add water. This pan got so hot that the bottom separated and molten aluminum poured into the stove top. That's not good.

The pan looks nice, though, and comes with an equally nice (though not aluminum filled) lid.

Layered stainless will separate if you leave it dry on a burner but melting is extremely unlikely.

Funny thing is, if they just made the bottom THICK stainless instead of layered, it'd conduct heat well enough. It's just cheaper to sandwich in a plate than to machine down a thicker stainless sheet till the sides are thinner than the bottom.

Why would you want an "aluminum filled" lid?

Despite being layered, it's a decent starter pot unlike much of the junk you'd find for a similar price.

Yeah starter pot, I'm sure some of the kids out there aren't ready to plonk down over $200 for a decent cookware set so buying a piece at a time of mediocre stuff instead of junk can be a good value.

Plus, even with a decent set you don't generally get 2 of the same piece but when cooking may often have a use for two pieces that are similar in function, like sauce pans.
