Attach the magnetic base directly to your hard drive for better connectivity.

Will this work with the WRT54G from Linksys? Do you need to replace both antenna?

Tried the Hawking 7db antenna before and didn't have much luck using it. I wonder if I would have better luck with the signal on this one going through to the 2nd floor. Anyone tried this on a 2story building with some concrete walls?

Don't buy them... I bought 2 of these to put on my linksys router because they were about $20 each after rebate... They did absolutely NOTHING to boost the signal. I used a signal metering software and it had a gain of literally 1% which is about 1 inch further than before. They look like they are pretty good quality. But useless junk.

I use this as Ben suggests and it increases the signal about 10 percent. You have to aim it carefully. The connector is prone to break off. I think a wok-fi is a better solution.

This works great attached to my wifi card. Allows me to raise the antenna several feet higher (because it has a cord) and get it out from the back of my computer. Not sure why you would attach it to your router though, probably doesn't do much good for that.

    - Try it out #10 it may help.MaxPC found that it increased the signal by 10dB but it does look very homemade.

Could be used to stay in touch with your colon. Other than that, pass on this thing.

the primary purpose for these low-gain antennas is to go where your original antenna cannot: on top of a desk (while the computer it is attached to is under the desk), on a window sill (while the router it is attached to must sit on a desk due to power cord and ethernet cable), etc.

i had the hawking omni attached to a computer sitting under a desk, placed it in the window to do site surveys of my neighborhood, and it worked great. previously i had that same computer & antenna used for a linux access point (before cheap embedded routers and dd-wrt) where placing the computer under a desk with the antenna elevated above the desk, and it worked great extending coverage through the house.

but if you are going to locate this antenna mere centimeters from where the original antenna is/was, then don't waste your time, because the additional antenna gain over the original antenna stub is probably more than offset by the loss in the additional length of wire.

Didn't seem to make much difference for me. I was trying to go through 2 floors and it was still a low signal so I ran Cat 5 and installed an access point which of course totally solved the problem. Save your money.
