I can't believe there are people that would want to go through the effort to stream MTV.

Just bite the bullet and build a small HTTV. Then you're not locked into whatever software is on your Boxee, Roku or WD box.

Does Roku play your own movies from a NAS or network drive?

#5 I have an HD-XR and and XDS. The XDS has the usb port but I dont use it. Get the XR. The XDS is twice as much and had a few more buttons on the remote and does 1080p but most if not all the web content is at the most 720p. I havent figured a way to stream from my WHS Nas yet. THat is really the only thing this thing is missing. I run Playon on an HTPC so that takes care of that piece. Gives me the free Hulu also...

I agree with #6. Just build that HTPC and you will be happy. You can do anything you want with it because it is a computer. Rip DVDs, play Blu-Ray movies, stream off the internet, watch HDTV over the air for free....etc. the only pain is dealing with a CRAPPY operating system. I wish there were an apple computer that worked better as an HTPC with a dual TV tuner!

Agree #10. I built an HTPC for all of the reasons that you pointed out and tried both versions of Windows (XP MC) and 7 and they both were less than optimum OSs for HTPC. That is why I was thinking of trying something different that does not rely on a Windows OS to run. We need someone to come up with a good open source OS for HTPCs.
